A monumental memory from the People's Republic of Bulgaria
One of the most impressive examples of monumental art remaining from communist times is located on top of the Buzludzha peak. The Buzludzha Monument is also known by its official title − House-Monument of the Bulgarian Communist Party.
In terms of scale, the Monument is considered to be the largest ideological monument of the totalitarian communist regime in Bulgaria. It arouses the curiosity of visitors from all over the world.
The monument has an unusual shape and an impressive size, countless mosaics and symbols of the communist regime, and it continues to draw tourists and explorers despite its dilapidated state and the restricted access to its interior halls.
The Monument was declared a part of Europe's cultural heritage even though the attitudes toward it in Bulgaria are conflicting.
