The Parish Temple 'Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary' was built after the construction of the 'Saint Dimitar' Cathedral. The first church in Stara Zagora became too small as the city's population grew. The construction of one the biggest and most beautiful churches in the city started in a more favorable context with the aim to address the citizens' spiritual needs.
The Temple's rich murals are done by some of the most talented masters in the country. For a long time, the church used wooden and metal semantrons. However, due to the importance of the neighborhood, an appropriate bell tower had to built. Three bells were commissioned from Moscow after much negotiation and planning. The bell tower then rose above the neighborhood.
Another interesting fact is that King Ferdinand read the manifesto announcing the start of the Balkan War in this very church in October 1912.
